In order to promote the training and education of exceptional engineers,
the Department of Liberal Studies works in conjunction with each individual
specialized department to enrich student motivation and character. By doing
so, students can contribute to global society with a creative, open mind
and well-rounded physical and mental education.
Required for all students at each level of education, liberal studies
courses comprise nearly half of all subject hours. During the course of
the five-year program, students learn various subjects ranging from high
school first year to university second year level.
Courses in the Department of Liberal Studies have two primary purposes:
(1) To cultivate students’ general world knowledge and foster communicative ability, both of which are necessary to become internationally-minded engineers, through humanities subjects such as history and foreign language.
(2) To develop fundamental knowledge of science subjects such as mathematics,
physics, and chemistry, as a necessary foundation for the mastery of higher
level specialized technological subjects. |
